Providing Support for Survivors

Meet Betty!
Our newest staff member, Betty, a 4 yr. old English Labrador, is a trained service dog from Assistance Dogs of the West. She, and and her trainer, Jackie, are valuable new members of Solace. They provide support during Forensic Interviews, therapy sessions, and more. Betty's gentle nature makes her a favorite among both children and adults. We are grateful for their presence and the comfort they bring to our clients.

Amy Adler
Vice President & Secretary
Amy has an undergraduate degree from Duke University and Master's degree in nursing from the University of California, San Francisco. She fell in love with Santa Fe and moved here to enjoy the rich culture and beauty of New Mexico. As a nurse practitioner Amy has been caring for patients for almost two decades, including as a forensic nurse examiner. She provided forensic exams to adult and pediatric patients at the UCLA Rape Treatment Center in Santa Monica, CA for
8 years. Most recently, in Santa Fe she was a Christus St. Vincent SANE nurse for 3 years performing pediatric delayed disclosure exams. While as a nurse practitioner Amy is able to take care of individuals who have experienced sexual violence by performing forensic exams, she wants to make sure they have good access to aftercare and support. Amy joined the board of Solace in January of 2022, which provides those crucial wrap-around services in a welcoming and serene environment conducive to working with survivors of sexual assault.

David Wannigman, Board Member
Energetic, intelligent, and hard-working, David has a passion for community service, and he is a staunch supporter of Solace’s mission to prevent sexual violence and help empower survivors to restore their dignity, strength and resiliency. In his professional life, David was a nuclear safety engineer which, at first blush, might seem to be a far cry from the work Solace does. But in fact, David finds similarities between the two in the way we work together to solve important problems and how we use our specialized skills to make our communities safer.
David joined the Solace team soon after retiring from Los Alamos National Laboratory, and he currently serves on their Board of Directors. He’s also a Volunteer Advocate on the after-hours hotline and Administrative Support Volunteer, as well as helping out with various maintenance tasks around the center. Through this work, David has connected with a mix of passionate people from all walks of life working for a common purpose. He enjoys contributing in whatever small way he can to help the Solace community make such an important difference is the lives of so many northern New Mexican families.
