Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, or PTSD is a physiological condition that occurs from one-time or recurring traumatic event(s).

Many people who experience traumatic events experience symptoms of stress and anxiety and are at risk for developing PTSD.

PTSD is most prevalent in survivors of:

Sexual Assault

Domestic Violence

Child Abuse

Witnesses to Violent Crimes or Events

Recent studies have shown that childhood abuse (particularly sexual abuse) is a strong predictor of the lifetime likelihood of developing Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Although many people still equate PTSD with combat trauma, the experience most likely to produce PTSD is rape. PTSD is associated with an extremely high rate of medical and mental health service use, and possibly the highest per-capita cost of any psychological condition. (Sidran.org, 2009)

Military Service individuals, Police Officers, Firefighters, and other first responders, often develop symptoms of PTSD, stress and/or anxiety based on the type of work and events they are actively involved in. They are the front line in the face of tragic events, and major crisis situations, that all of our communities face and rely on these courageous individuals to help us.

Solace Crisis Treatment Center services help all of these individuals find strength, treatment, education and resources to better cope and find their own inner resiliency.
